Here you can experience mudflats

We have put together a very special offer for families around the Wadden Sea National Park. On three days of the family week, an exciting excursion is planned for children and parents.

During the holiday weeks, there are also creative activities for children.

Our excursions during the family week:

Who is hiding in the mudflats? We will find out during a guided exploration of the mudflats.

Can all birds fly? Why do some birds fly south and where does the wren get its name? What do birds live on and how old can they become? During the ornithological guided tour, young birdwatchers aged 6 and over can get to the bottom of the secrets of the bird world with the help of games, stories and observations. For parents (and younger children), there is a parallel ornithological tour.

During a visit to the Frisian Sheep Dairy, you will experience the farm up close, visit a flock of sheep to touch, tour the cheese dairy and the maturing cellar and, of course, finish off with some delicious cheese to taste and enjoy.

Individually, you can also visit the Multimar Wattforum in Tönning or take a boat trip on the Eider with the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union - we will be happy to give you tips and help you plan further excursions.

Please note: We currently do not know if all excursions will take place due to Corona. There will definitely be a mudflat walk, but whether the guided tour of the sheep's cheese dairy and the ornithology will take place may only be decided at short notice - otherwise we will offer an alternative programme.

Services:

7 nights in a double room, family room or flat with vegetarian/vegan organic half board (7x breakfast, 6x dinner), three guided excursions. The return journeys to the excursion destinations are not included in the price. The mudflat walk and ornithological tour are within easy cycling distance (5 and 10 km respectively), the cheese dairy is a little further away (25 km). We can form car pools on site.

Creative course

In some holiday weeks, there is an additional creative course for children (4 to 14 years) unaccompanied by their parents at the Haus am Watt, for two hours on each of six days - the course costs 180 euros per child and week, including the cost of materials, and takes place if at least four children take part. The course always takes place in the morning after breakfast from 10-12 am. If an excursion is planned in the morning, e.g. a mudflat hike, then the course is in the later afternoon.
